Free website teardown, in 48 hours
Send me your URL. You get back a written teardown within two working days.
No call. No pitch. No follow-up sequence.
What you get
A short document, written by me, covering what I can establish from the outside in about an hour of looking:
Whether your contact form actually delivers. I submit it and time the reply. This is the fault I find most often and the one that costs the most, and almost nobody knows it is happening.
What your site does on a phone, on mobile data. Timed, not described. Most visitors are on a phone and most patience runs out before the page does.
Which of your pages nothing links to. Pages that exist but that neither a visitor nor a search engine can reach. More common than it sounds and invisible from the homepage.
Where someone gives up between arriving and enquiring. How many steps it takes to do the one thing that makes you money, and where that path breaks.
What is fine. This is the part most reviews leave out. If your design is good, I will say so, and you will not spend money on it.
What it costs
Nothing, and there is no version of this where it later turns out to cost something.
Why I do it: it is how I find work. Some of the people who take it fix everything themselves and never contact me again. That is a fair outcome. I would rather be the person who told you what was wrong than the person who sold you something you did not need.
What it is not
It is not the full audit. That one takes five working days, goes into your funnel, booking, CRM and backend, and is paid. The teardown is shorter and shallower, and its real job is to tell you whether the audit is worth buying.
It is not a design opinion. I will not tell you your site looks dated. Looking dated costs almost nothing if the site works, and I have written separately about when a redesign is actually the answer.
It is not a sales document. It ends with what to do, not with what to buy.
How long it takes
Two working days from when your email arrives, and I hold myself to that in writing everywhere else on this site, so I am not going to miss it here.
If it is going to be late, you will hear from me before the deadline, not after.
Who it is for
Service businesses with a website that is supposed to bring in enquiries and is not doing it well enough. Clinics, agencies, trades with a team, consultancies, anyone whose next client could arrive through their site.
If you want to see what this work looks like when it goes all the way through, one client's numbers are published in full.
If you sell products, or if you have an in-house developer, this is probably not useful to you.
How to ask
One email. Your URL, and one line about what you would want a visitor to do.
That is the whole process. There is no form to fill in, no call to book, and nothing to sign.
Two questions people ask first
Why would you do this for free?
Because most people cannot tell whether a developer knows what they are doing until they have already paid one. This is the cheapest way for me to show you, and the cheapest way for you to find out. If it turns out you do not need me, the teardown will say so.
What happens after I get it?
Nothing, unless you email me. I do not run follow-up sequences and I will not chase you. If you want to talk about fixing what is in it, you know where I am.
